Metro Train - Early Bird Ticket

Today I made a huge discovered on an offer provided by Melbourne train service (Metro) which going to give me a BIG saving when travel for work.


1 week after arrived in the city, I began to use discount travelling ticket for public transport. This prepaid ticket could provide frequent traveller saving with discount fare but have to pay advance cash for 10 trips.

Thru public transport leaflet, I also know that if I purchased a monthly ticket (meaning paid a bigger amount for another type of prepaid ticket but can travel entire month with much much more dicount)
Since my current work require me to make 2 ways journey during weekday, I made up my mind to get a monthly ticket today.

So here come the big discovered story of mine.

Went to the train ticket counter after work. Instead of pull out my money and ask for a monthly ticket, Smart Alex applied his Kampung Uncle style again. Raised QUESTIONs to the counter staff (happened to be an Indian gentleman) on how should I plan my expenses for my daily journey.

He asked for my usual travel time. My answer was "every morning before 6am"

His replied was "No need monthly ticket. Just buy your current prepaid ticket will do. I will give you another free ticket"

HEY... Magic Word oh => FREE but I don't really believe my ears. Must be old man me cannot hear proper conversation again so stared at him instead.

tu tu tu (he pressed buttons)...a few seconds later he pushed a ticket thru the window to me and told me "This is your Early Bird ticket"

I looked at the price column => $ 0.00 Looked back at Mr Ah Neh and asked with my sexy smile "FREE?!?!?!?!"

hehehehehe.... He confirmed and told me as long as I am in the train (not tram or bus) before 7am than this free ticket is valid.

U la la.... finished ?? not yet... Uncle sure have another few questions to Ah Neh Nice Nice....

Question 1 => How long this tickets valid ?

Answer 1   => Can use for 10 trip (this mean 5 working days... 2 WEEKS)

Question 2 => Can get another such Early Bird ticket ?

Answer 2  =>  Just come to counter and request for Early Bird ticket once used.

Need further Question ???? Of cause no more.....

Before I left the counter with a big thanks to Mr Nice Ah Neh, I bought a new frequent travel 10X ticket from him (mmm... 10 days return trip.. 2wks ride)

I very excited with this new discovery because after a quick mental calculation. I know that I have save about A$40 - A$60 each month (depend on which type of prepaid ticket I purchase) from this Early Bird ticket encounter. 
I going to turn to be a millionair soon from this saving......
